The Midi Skirt

Midi Skirt

Every Carrie Bradshaw aficionado knows that the full, A-line midi skirt is the most effective way to draw the eyes while being cute, classy, and fabulous all at one time. There are so many ways to wear this skirt as we segue into the winter season. For the cooler climate, you could add a cropped blazer and black stockings. And if you feel like adding more accessories, you could garnish your look with a cute beret or a feminine scarf. For me, this skirt is the epitome of chicness and elegance. It has gone from the 1950s to Carrie Bradshaw, to now, and every fashionista should have one hanging in their closet.

Today, I paired my black midi from Express with a Betsey Johnson bracelet, a rose-colored clutch from Forever 21, a black top from H&M, and black pumps from Target. Since the climate was more moderate today, there was no need for me to add much more to my ensemble. However, if you live in a more chilly area, I would embrace it as an opportunity to be more creative with your accessories and overall look. You could even add a long coat to your look if you wanted to be more adventurous. Whatever your case may be, I hope that you embrace this trend while it is still at its peak and always remember to have fun!

OOTD: Polka Dot Edition

There are a few staples that we associate with fall fashion including neutrals, tweeds, oaky reds, brown leather boots and gloves, and so forth. For most people, black and white polka dots are probably not one of them. However, some of the biggest names in the fashion industry have been very innovative with this print this season. One that I can think of is Valentino. Many of his designs this fall feature bold polka dots placed in strategic geometric layouts on mini dresses, skirts, and coats. Although I know it may be unconventional according to fall traditions, I couldn’t wait to bust out my black and white polka dot ensemble with a blazer from Express. After all, if Valentino decided to make polka dots a fall trend, why should we question it to begin with?

I paired my blazer with a pink chiffon scarf from Icing, dark-wash skinny jeans from American Eagle, and color – blocked Vince Camuto boots. I also added some small statement earrings from a boutique called, Pinto, to give it some extra sparkle! This was fun for me because the black and white print of the blazer gave me a canvas to work with. I thought that the pink, Parisian-inspired scarf meshed perfectly with the print of the jacket, and the jeans and boots gave the outfit a casual, yet put together vibe for taking on a busy day. If I had wanted to dress this blazer up, I would have worn a light pink trouser with a statement necklace, in place of the scarf, and black pumps with a clutch for a night out. However, there are infinite possibilities with this look and I challenge you to have fun with polka dots this fall too!

I put together some other polka dot looks in the posts above!
